Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you                Pray without ceasing                For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured unto you                And we know and have believed the love which God hath in us. God is love; and he that abideth in love abideth in God, and God abideth in him                Through many tribulations we must enter into the kingdom of God                Verily I say unto you, Except ye turn, and become as little children, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven                Verily I say unto you, It is hard for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven                It is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God

My dad got sick…

By Testimony,
Love One Another! 2017-38
Divine Mercy

I decided to pray persistently, trust God and rely on His will.

My dad got sick…

When I learned about dad’s sickness, the first thought that came to my mind was that our whole hope was in God’s mercy. I prayed the chaplet of Divine Mercy, but every time I picked up the rosary and the picture of Merciful Jesus, dad felt worse. I prayed more earnestly; I asked God to remove my dad’s suffering. However, with each passing day things were unfortunately getting worse … I stopped praying, I was almost afraid to pick up the rosary. Then father’s health improved. “Why is this happening …?”, I thought. Not until later did I understand: as soon as dad felt a little better, he had no desire for further treatment. The doctor advised to do a biopsy, but dad would refuse.

In “Love One Another!” I read about miracles through the prayers of intercession to the Merciful Jesus; I was encouraged by the attitude of people who gave testimonies of healings. I decided to pray persistently, trust God and rely on His will. Dad’s sickness was progressing and it was really bad, but, persuaded by the family, he finally decided to do a biopsy.

It was February. The postman brought the envelope the whole family had been waiting for. Every day dad had been waiting to make sure it was him who would receive the test result. However, the opposite happened. It was me who opened the letter, and I read the words: “… a malignant cancer of the right lobe …”. “How come?”, I asked with tears, “it was supposed to be different, after all, I prayed for a different result … “ I looked at the clock and I heard: “Leave it, now is the hour of mercy, pray! Do not be afraid, it will be alright!” Then there was the surgery, followed by radiotherapy. Dad’s treatment took more than three years. Father experienced different fears, he was depressed and thought that it would not work … All this time my whole family prayed the chaplet to the Merciful Jesus and the rosary. There were also Masses celebrated for dad’s healing.

Today dad feels much better. Recently the doctor told him that the results before the treatment had been so bad that he had had no chance of survival. Currently, the cancer cell count is low. Father goes for checkups, and he hasn’t taken any medication for over a year and a half. His illness stopped, and even went into remission. I’m sure it happened thanks to the Merciful Jesus and through the intercession of Mary. Now I also know that God’s plans are good, and man should allow God to act in his life. My dad has changed – now he prays more and cares more about spiritual matters. The miracle of his healing from sickness and the change in his life have occurred thanks to the Merciful Jesus. I thank God and praise Him for this.
