You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery;'                but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.                If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.                If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.                'It was also said, 'Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorce,'                but I tell you that whoever puts away his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is put away commits adultery.                'Again you have heard that it was said to them of old time, 'You shall not make false vows, but shall perform to the Lord your vows,'                but I tell you, don't swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;                nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.                Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can't make one hair white or black.                But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes' and your 'No' be 'No.' Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.                'You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.'*                But I tell you, don't resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.                If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also.                Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.                Give to him who asks you, and don't turn away him who desires to borrow from you.                'You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor,* and hate your enemy.*'                But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,                that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven.

From the Catholic faith, we took only the things which met our expectations.

A joint road to holiness

Our road to discovering the truth about human sexuality and every person’s destiny to holiness was not easy. When we met in high school, the universal fashion for conformist life and cohabitation before marriage became also part of our lives. Although we didn’t resign from attending church or from the Catholic faith, we took from it only the things which met our expectations. And although we hadn’t always felt right with the attitude we had chosen, we believed that love should be expressed in intimacy. Now, looking back from the perspective of 10 years, we know that we were guided then by great immaturity, selfishness and naivety. We hurt each other in those days, robbing ourselves of purity and calling it love.

Conversion came to us nearly two years later, when a friend gave us a special issue of “Love One Another!” titled “The joy of pure love.” Although we didn’t immediately accept all the arguments by the authors of the articles inside, many of our fears and anxieties were named in these texts. So began the process of our return to the Truth and our submission to God’s love that heals all wounds. Although our problems, lust and addictions didn’t disappear, we saw the truth about the meaning of human love. We also learned why purity of the heart is worth defending and how to accomplish it.

After seven years of relationship we got engaged, and we lived in premarital purity throughout the period leading up to our wedding. This time was an investment in our future marriage.

Today, a year since our wedding, we know that the time of resigning from physical intimacy and deepening our knowledge about the meaning and purpose of marriage prepared us for a beautiful walk through life together.

We would like to join the MPH, so that the resolutions made to God in the Prayer of entrustment can be our signposts for all the days of our lives. We know that you can hardly avoid suffering and hardship in life: we can feel the lack of our own home and we have health problems. However, we believe that trusting God and loving Him, we will strive together to reach the goal of our marriage – holiness.
