If I speak with the languages of men and of angels, but don't have love, I have become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal.                If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but don't have love, I am nothing.                If I dole out all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but don't have love, it profits me nothing.                Love is patient and is kind; love doesn't envy. Love doesn't brag, is not proud, doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will be done away with.

Love One Another!

“It is indispensable and urgent that every person of good will should endeavor to save and foster the values and requirements of the family” (John Paul II.)

“The future of humanity passes by way of the family! It is therefore indispensable and urgent that every person of good will should endeavor to save and foster the values and requirements of the family. I feel that I must ask for a particular effort in this field from the sons and daughters of the Church. Faith gives them full knowledge of God’s wonderful plan: they therefore have an extra reason for caring for the reality that is the family in this time of trial and of grace. They must show the family special love. This is an injunction that calls for concrete action” (John Paul II, Familiaris consortio, 86).

The Prayer Crusade for the Intentions of Marriages Experiencing Breakdown is a response to John Paul II’s appeal on behalf of families in crisis. Participants pledge to recite the prayer for threatened marriages along with a decade of the rosary every day for a period of six months. They can also offer up frequent reception of Holy Communion or any other voluntary spiritual gift. Any willing person may take part in the crusade. Trusting in God’s almighty power and healing love, let us not spare our efforts and sacrifices in rendering spiritual assistance to the many families suffering breakdown throughout the world!

Daily prayer for marriages experiencing breakdown

“Heavenly Father, in calling the institution of marriage into existence, you wished to assure us of the best means of carrying out the commandment of love. Your Son, Jesus Christ, began his saving ministry by providing support to the married couple and their friends at the wedding feast of Cana. Mary was also there. It was she who first noticed that this new marriage was experiencing difficulty. I beseech you dear Father, Jesus, and Mary to save all marriages experiencing breakdown for whatever cause. Grant that this couple, for whose intention I now pray, may experience the miracle of changing evil into good, coldness into warmth, callousness into sensitivity, bitter words into tender ones, detachment into intimacy, sorrow into joy, and indifference into sympathy. May your glory be made manifest so that this couple and their children may renew their belief in you. Amen.”
