You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery;'                but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.                If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.                If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.                'It was also said, 'Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorce,'                but I tell you that whoever puts away his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is put away commits adultery.                'Again you have heard that it was said to them of old time, 'You shall not make false vows, but shall perform to the Lord your vows,'                but I tell you, don't swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;                nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.                Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can't make one hair white or black.                But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes' and your 'No' be 'No.' Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.                'You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.'*                But I tell you, don't resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.                If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also.                Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.                Give to him who asks you, and don't turn away him who desires to borrow from you.                'You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor,* and hate your enemy.*'                But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,                that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven.

Love One Another

Dear Husbands and Wives!

By joining the Movement of Pure Hearts you have decided to open yourselves daily to that great treasure that is Jesus Himself in the Sacrament of Marriage. He is the sole source of your love, the one guarantor of your growth to perfect happiness in heaven. Accept His love wholeheartedly in daily prayer and the sacraments, that you may bestow this love on each other, your children and others. Jesus wants to keep your marital relations healthy, to teach you mutual forgiveness, so that your life together may be a banquet of true love. In order to become members of the Movement of Pure Hearts, all you have to do is go to sacramental confession, receive Jesus in Holy Communion, and say the following prayer of consecration:

Lord, I consecrate myself to You: my memory, my mind, my body and soul. Teach me to love my spouse and my children with the love that flows from Your Heart. Lord Jesus Christ, grant both of us a pure heart modelled upon Yours, so that together we may perfect a love that is wise, generous, faithful, and free of self-interest – a love that steadfastly upholds Your laws and commandments. May daily family prayer – the rosary, the chaplet of divine mercy, shared attendance at Holy Mass and frequent reception of Holy Communion – be our help in this endeavor. May we immediately confess every serious sin in the sacrament of Reconciliation. Grant that we may continually draw on the graces available to us through the Sacrament of Marriage.
Lord Jesus, be the one master of my heart. Teach me to control my sexual desires and feelings, that my love for my spouse and children may not be subject to my moods and emotional states. May it be instead a continual expression of my care and solicitude for them. Grant me the gift of pure conjugal love, that I may give myself generously to my spouse. Cleanse our love of all selfishness, that we may always forgive and pray for each other and not bear grudges. In order that I may remain pure in heart I resolve never to read, buy or look at pornographic materials. I resolve never to use contraceptives and always to be ready to accept every child that God may send us. Lord, help me to avoid everything that ensnares, enslaves or incites to evil. Mary, my Mother, guide me in the way of faith toward the one source of our love – toward your Son, Jesus Christ. May I always trust and believe in Him. Amen.

Dear readers, please inform our editorial staff of this important event. Send us your address and date of birth, and tell us when you decided to join the Movement of Pure Hearts. We in turn will enrol you in our Book of Pure Hearts and send you a special blessing. Our Lord wants you to send us your testimonies and share with others the treasure of your faith and your experience of married life. Greetings from all of us! And be assured of our daily prayers for your intentions.
